Evelyn Lynette Compton, 79 of Waxahachie, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 and is now resting in the arms of Jesus. She was born in Weslaco Texas to the late Ivan R. Stahl, Jr. and Ruby E. Pike Stahl on August 21, 1928.
Lynette was a member of the St. Paul Episcopal Church of Waxahachie and served in many capacities. She was a Eucharistic Lay Minister of St. Paul, served as the Senior Warden of the Vestry, was a member of the Alter Gild as well as a member of the Vestry. She was involved in the Women of the Church organization doing things like serving meals, social services, and volunteered to help in every aspect of the church. Lynette was a member of Daughters of the King, head of the Lay Readers of St. Paul, and was an original Board Member of the Canterbury Episcopal School in Duncanville. For several years she participated in Honduras Medical Mission trips along with her husband. She was a member of Gardeners Limited, the Friday Book Club, and the Junior Service League and volunteered her time to Meals on Wheels. She was a Patron of the Arts including the Dallas Art Museum and the Kimble Art Museum of Ft. Worth. Lynette loved the Lord and serving Him. She loved and adored her family and spending time with them. She will be missed by so many who loved and knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Dr. John Compton of Waxahachie; Deborah Compton of Waxahachie; Graham Compton and his wife Alice of Midlothian; Deanna Compton of Irving; grand children Tammy Thompson and her husband Chris; Jeff Clark and his wife Susan, Carli Hendrickson; Jessica Holmes and her husband Mark; Lindsay Compton; Justin Wade and his wife Stephanie; 5 great-grandchildren, Peyton, Lukas, Spencer, Sterling, and Skyler; aunt, Roberta Stahl of Weslaco, cousin , Jan Tucker and her husband Ed of Farmington NM; aunt Betty Pike of Arlington.
Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00pm Sunday December 16, 2007 at St. Paul Episcopal Church with Father Terry Reisner and Father Jerry Hill officiating under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral home.
