Eva Adline Sims Kessner, age 93

August 19, 2007

Eva Adline Sims Kessner, age 93, passed away in Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas on August 19, 2007. Ms. Kessner had been a resident of the Red Oak Health and Rehabilitation Center since July, 2002. She previously lived with her daughter, Linda Kessner Howerton in Red Oak, TX. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Harrell Hansel Kessner. Ms. Kessner was born in Oletha, Robertson County, Texas, on December 13, 1913, to Mark and Leola (Champion) Sims, who are deceased.

She is survived by: one brother, Grady Sims of Bedford, TX.; two sisters, Helen Pringle of Dallas, TX. and Bertie Platt of Waco, TX.; grandson James Wiley Howerton of Taylorsville, GA.; granddaughters, Marla Marie York of Belton, Kara Lin Newton of Gatesville, and Schalan Mohtares of Dallas; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Up to the time that she retired, Ms. Kessner was employed as the Manager of the Jewelry Department for Gibson's Discount Stores in Dallas. She was a long-time member of the Sunset Baptist Church in Oak Cliff where she had many friends, too numerous to mention.

Funeral Services will be 10 AM Thursday, August 23, 2007 also at the Red Oak Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at the Powers Chapel Cemetery, County Road 326, between Marlin and Rosebud, TX.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Red Oak Funeral Home.
