Eugene “Turtle” Ray Loyd, of Waxahachie, Texas went home to Jesus on June 12, 2019 at the age of 90.
Eugene was born on August 22, 1928 to the late Henry and Jewel Loyd in Forreston, Texas. He attended Forreston Public School where enjoyed playing for the Forreston Tigers basketball team. He lived his entire life in the Nash-Forreston area. After he graduated high school, he joined the Army and was stationed in Korea. He then met and married his loving wife, Molly. They continued their life in the Forreston area raising their two children. Eugene worked for Tyler Refrigeration and after 49 years of service, he retired to enjoy the country life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed sitting back in his rocking chair watching over his cattle and caring for his land and home. He was by far the most caring and generous man anyone could ever meet and was willing to help people in any way. PaPa, we love you and will see you again one day.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 70 years, Molly Loyd of Waxahachie, Texas; one daughter, Monica Rodriguez of Waxahachie, Texas; one sister, Betty Jo Wright of Waxahachie, Texas; one brother, Bobby and Charlotte Loyd of Waxahachie, Texas; one granddaughter, Gena Lyon and her husband Barrett of Waxahachie, Texas; three great-grand children; Trenton Low, Liana Lyon and Kannon Lyon. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by them all.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son Larry Loyd; one brother Wayne Loyd; his grandson, Jeremy Lane Rodriguez and his son-in-law, Jimmy Rodriguez.
Services celebrating Eugene’s life will be held graveside Saturday, June 15, 2019 at ten o’clock in the morning at Forreston Cemetery in Forreston, Texas.
