Ethel I. Southard, (nee Prescott), was born in Merna, NE. on November 8, 1924: age 81 years. She was raised around Merna, NE. and attended school graduating in 1942. She moved to California to work at the Lockheed Airplane plant where she met Elvo "Tex" Southard. They were married November 10, 1946 and moved to Waxahachie. She worked at Flex Steel as an Office Assistant until retirement.

Ethel proudly and tirelessly volunteered her time as a "Pink Lady" at the Baylor Hospital Auxiliary in Waxahachie. She volunteered over 14,000 hours.

She succumbed to cancer on Sunday, July 9, 2006 at the Alterra Sterling House Assisted Living Facility, Waxahachie. Her fun loving sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Southard is survived by family members: sister, Mamie Miller of Broken Bow, NE; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, H. L. "Sonny" Southard and sister-in-law, Imo Gene Honza; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvo; her parents, George and Mamie Prescott; brothers, Chuck, Grant and Jack; and sisters, Nora and Pauline.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of her Life will be 10 AM Thursday, July 13, 2006 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ryan Anderson, David Watson, Kenny Jackson, Richardson Jackson, George Jackson, and Kirk Crowley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Baylor Hospital Auxiliary. Interment will follow in the Hughes Cemetery, Avalon, Texas.

Memorials may be made to the Baylor Auxiliary, Waxahachie, Texas.
