Ethel Alma Hunter passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2006 in Waxahachie at Pleasant Manor Living Center at the age of 96. She was born August 4, 1909 in Maypearl, Texas and was preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Hunter, son, Billy Jack Hunter and daughter, Peggy Jean Haney.

Mrs. Hunter retired from Sears, Roebuck and Company in 1972 after 23 years employment. She has been a longtime member of College Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by son-in-law, Kenneth D. Haney; daughter-in-law, Betty Sims Hunter, both of Waxahachie. Grandchildren, Kevin Haney of Thurmont, Maryland, Kyle Haney and Mark Hunter of Waxahachie, Leanne Blankenship and husband Greg of The Woodlands; great grandchildren, Jill and Clay Blankenship of The Woodlands; and sisters, Wanda Jo and her husband Bobby Pendley of Waxahachie, and Dora "Dinkie" and her husband Ray Essary of Austin. A large number of other relatives also survive, along with special friends from the church who have been kind and thoughtful through the years.

Other than her husband, son and daughter, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 PM Thursday, July 6 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10 AM Friday, July 7, 2006 at the Red Oak Cemetery with Walter Buchanan officiating. Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the College Street Church of Christ or the charity of your choice.
