Esther Vess

Esther Mary Radke was born on March 24, 1921 in the rural area around Brandon to Harry and Emma Sonnenburg Radke.  She passed on March 28, 2023 at Buffalo Creek Assisted Living in Waxahachie.

Esther was the 5th child of 6 and was educated at the Honey Flat and Irene schools.  She lived and worked in Hillsboro, Waco, Kansas City, KS but settled in Waxahachie in 1944.  Through mutual friends she met Adrian Vess and they were married in Hillsboro on July 23, 1948.  Although Esther held various jobs throughout her life, the job that she enjoyed most and excelled at was that of wife, mother, homemaker and later grandmother.

She was the last of her generation in her family having outlived all of her siblings and cousins.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Adrian in 2019 and her son-in-law Dean Flatt also in 2019.  She is survived by her daughter Ann Flatt of Midland, her granddaughter Emily and her husband Dominic Gatti of Ewa Beach, HI as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
