Estelle Griffin

Estelle Cribbs Griffin March 26, 1927 - February 8, 2013 God took Estelle home on February 8, 2013 peacefully with family at her bedside. She was born March 26, 1927 in Elbert, TX to O.C. and Leona Reece Cribbs. Her Father O.C. died when she was only 6 years old and was raised by her mother Leona and 8 older brothers and sisters. The Cribbs family was a very close family and growing up on a farm, Estelle was raised with lots of homemade fun, hard work, and strong family ties. She graduated Throckmorton High School in 1944. On May 20, 1944 she married Gene P. Griffin and moved to the "big city" Lancaster, TX where they lived for 47 years, and then in Ovilla, TX for 12 years. Her career included medical transcriber, and many years as a legal secretary. She was a faithful Christian, devoted wife for 63 years, loving Mother and Grandmother, and loved to play bingo and dominoes. Bowling, fishing with Gene, and taking care of her family were her favorite activities. She made the best Chicken fried steak and Banana Pudding a person could ever eat. While visiting her son David in Saudi Arabia one year and then riding camels around the Pyramids in Egypt, she was asked if she had ever seen anything so spectacular, and she answered, "yes, Lancaster, Texas". Even though she suffered with Parkinson's disease for many years, she would deal with it and give encouragement to others. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Gene, her parents, five brothers (Charlie, Jack, Bill, Floyd, Harrell), and three sisters (Eunice, Mabel, Stella Mae) whom she all loved dearly. Her survivors include: Son and daughter-in-law, David R. and Beth Griffin of Ovilla, TX, Grandsons Michael, Sean, and Scott, and a long list of nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends 6-8 pm Tuesday, February 12th at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, TX. The celebration of her Life will be at 2:00pm Wednesday February 13th at Shiloh Cemetery in Ovilla, TX with interment to follow.
