Lois Ernestine Rockett (Aunt Teen) Wallace, age 89

January 23, 2006

Mrs. Wallace, lifetime Waxahachie resident, passed away Monday evening at Baylor Medical Center, Waxahachie. She was born to Ernest H. and Lois (Jennings) Rockett.
She graduated from Waxahachie High School and attended Trinity University. She was a member/officer of the Waxahachie Garden Club, Ellis County Museum, City Federation, Century Club, Opti Mrs. Club, a charter member of the Photography Club, Waxahachie Doll Club, Ellis County Art Association and President and manager of the Hillcrest Burial Park of Waxahachie. She was also CFO and Vice President of Yale Leasing, Inc., and was the 23rd First Lady of Waxahachie in 1982. Mrs. Wallace was instrumental in the first Special Education System in 1960 at Marvin Elementary School. Mrs. Ernestine was the personal business manager for Mr. Marvin Singleton for over fifty years. She was married to Ermon Moats Wallace, who preceded her in death in 1977. Mrs. Wallace was a devoted Mom to her son, Joe. Her hobbies were painting, photography and gardening. Mrs. Wallace was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waxahachie.

Her survivors include: brother and sister-in-law, Ernest H. and Susanne Rockett of Centinniel, CO.; sister, Patricia Roe of Waxahachie; Oleta Phillips, sister-in-law, of McKinney; nieces and nephews, Lea Ann Connelly and husband Shawn, Sherry McCarty and husband Mike, and John and Debra Rockett, Terry Neil and Pat Roe, Vicki and Danny Graham, and Denise and Jack Stembridge; twelve great nieces and nephews and one great great nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband and son, Joe Wallace.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Friday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Graveside Services, Saturday, January 28, 2006 at the Hillcrest Burial Park with Dr. Shane Kennison officiating. Interment will follow.
