Elvo E. Southard, age 86

Mr. Southard passed away at his Waxahachie residence early Sunday morning. Elvo was born in Avalon, Texas to Emmett L. and Lola (Dixon) Southard. He attended Avalon Schools and served in the US Army during WWII in California and Japan. Elvo married Ethel Prescott from Merna, Nebraska November 10th, 1946 in Yuma, Arizona. He was employed with Lockheed in California and LTV in Grandprairie as an aircraft sheet metal fabricator. Elvo and Ethel were members of the Avalon Baptist Church and always had a garden at the corner of LaVista and Dallas Highway.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Ethel of Waxahachie, one brother H.L."Sonny " and Joy Southard of Avalon, three sisters; Imogene and Joe Honza of Ennis, Juanita Knowlton of Avalon, Verlee Hearn of Illinois, special friends Mr.& Mrs. Aubrey Berry, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, three brothers, five sisters, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday evening at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2:00 PM Wednesday May 14, 2003 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel with Reverend Grady Cashion and Reverend Larry Poarch officiating. Interment will follow in the Hughes Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Roland, Freddy, Kenneth and Bill Southard, Sterling Worthy, and Dwight Duncan.
