Elmo R. Reeves

October 3, 1930 — January 13, 2025

Waxahachie

Elmo R. Reeves, Jr. went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2025 at the age of 94 at his home in Waxahachie. He was born on October 3, 1930 to Elmo R. Reeves, Sr. and Ethel Reeves in Ft. Worth, TX.

He spent his childhood in Handley, TX with lots of pets and his best friend Tommy. Growing up he often worked on his Uncle Guy’s farm. In high school the school was so small that he played on every sports team and he enjoyed them all. Following high school he attended the University of Arlington where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. He had a life goal of achieving a Master’s degree and he pursued that goal and did at age 50 from the University of Dallas.

For 40+ years Elmo worked at Vought Aerospace holding several different positions and eventually becoming a director. One of his favorite projects there was working on part of the spacecraft that went to the moon. He made sure his kids were part of that historic event and they took a family road trip to Florida to see the launch of the spacecraft. He thoroughly enjoyed his life's work & made many friendships there.

Elmo loved his family and building and repairing anything he could. He was highly respected for the way he lived his life. He was a loyal friend, selfless, very generous, always ready to help anyone. He left behind cherished memories, and a legacy of love, kindness, and strength in his 94 years.

In his later years he loved working on his farm in Waxahachie, tending to the land, farm machinery, and horses and cows he had there. He was always ready to jump on a tractor and get some work done! He loved having people out to his land, especially his grandkids. He also enjoyed going dancing with his wife. They were quite the pair on the dance floor!

Elmo is survived by his wife, Betty, children Cherryl Flocken (Mike), Carrie Davis (Blake), and Robin Reeves (Sharon), stepsons Jimmy Graham, Jr. (Linda), Brent Graham (Debbie), and Charles Graham. His grandchildren who lovingly called him Gandy: Brett Wood (Terra); Brittany Flocken; Taylor Millender (Michael); Jim Jenkens; Loree Jenkens Ray; Amanda and Casey Graham; Joshua, Jon, and Jacob Graham; Ashley and Michael Graham. He was blessed with several great-grandchildren including: Grady Wood, Presley Franklin, John Millender, Tanner Sparks, and Maddie Ray.

Although Elmo is gone from us, we know that he is with the Lord in heaven & we will be with him again. In the words of one of his favorite songs, “The Old Rugged Cross”:

“So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,

Till my trophies at last I lay down;

I will cling to the old rugged cross,

And exchange it someday for a crown”

We miss you and love you Daddy! Your beloved family. ❤️
