Elizabeth Ann (Beth) Shipp Sims

Elizabeth Ann Shipp Sims was born to Jesse and Naomi Meredith Shipp in Broken Bow, OK January 31, 1923. She died May 31, 2008. Beth attended Oklahoma A&M University and graduated from Tulsa University and St. John's School of Nursing. She is a member of Phi Mu social fraternity. She was also a graduate of Southwestern Medical School as a women's health nurse practitioner.

Beth married Wilson Dabney Sims, Jr. She worked in nursing for over fifty years. Dab and Beth were the parents of two daughters. She was a member of the National Audubon Society, the Dallas Audubon Society, and the Ellis County Birdwatchers. She enjoyed playing bridge, birding, cooking, nursing and her family.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, her daughter Dana Wessels and her husband Jim of Waxahachie, TX, her daughter Lou Ann Burkholder and her husband John of Dallas, TX, her grandson John Rutherford and his wife Annella of Franklin, TN, her grandson Mark Rutherford and his wife Lynn of Coppell, TX, her granddaughter Meredith Burkholder of Brooklyn, NY, her three great grandchildren Preston and Piper Rutherford of Coppell, TX and Lily Rutherford of Franklin, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

Beth requested no memorial service be held and that her ashes be interred in the Waxahachie City Cemetery privately. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Any memorials to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, TX 75219, would be appreciated.
