Elizabeth Medlock

Bertie Elizabeth Medlock, 92, of Waxahachie passed away in Red Oak on Friday, May 18, 2012. She was born to the late John Baily Bruce and Dovie Lillian Whitlock on January 11, 1920 in Paris , Texas . She married Travis O. Medlock on October 20, 1940 and they resided in Waxahachie their entire married life. Elizabeth has been an active member of Ferris Heights United Methodist Church since 1940. She loved to quilt with her friends. The quilting group made quilts for the Lord's Acre Sale as well as quilting for individuals to raise money for the church. In 1987, she was one of the first members of the YMCA's Y Hi Steppers. She loved to dance for the residents in the nursing homes in the area. In her lifetime, she worked for Safeway during World War II, Southwestern Bell Telephone as an operator, and retired from Kroger. She is survived by three children: Vickie Brown and her husband, Ron of Red Oak; Becky Allen and her husband Jackie of Waxahachie; and Bruce Medlock and his wife Cindy of Waxahachie; Sisters: Bess Dill of Claremore, OK and Ginger Robnett and husband Jim of Red Oak, Tx.; 6 grandchildren: Lori Chandler and husband Drew, Meleah Puckett and husband Chad, Clark Allen and wife Helen, Blake Medlock and wife Lindsey, Maca Ramos and husband Jeff and Ben Medlock and wife Amber; 11 Great Grandchildren: Kirby, Gibson and Waylon Chandler, Olivia and Travis Puckett, Caleb and Aaron Allen, Ashton McCormick and Kyleigh Medlock, Ellie Ramos, and Marshall Medlock; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis, sisters: Dorothy Bruce, Nancy Beck and Veta Bruce and brother John Bruce. Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, May 21, 2012 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Carol Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to the Lighted Pathways Health Services for the love and care that our Mother received.
