Edward Kennedy

Edward Clay Kennedy, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend passed away Friday, February 1, 2013 in Waxahachie. Edward was born in Avalon, Texas on May 10, 1929 to Floyd Kennedy and Jewel Southard. In 1947, Edward graduated from Avalon High School. He was in the Texas National Guard and retired from the United States Postal Service. Edward was a member of the IOOF (Independent Order of Odd Fellows) lodge for over 50 years. In 1957 he was the Noble Grand Master and also served as the Deputy District Grand Master. He received his Past Grand Master degree in July of 1957, of which there have only been 22 Noble Grand Master's to achieve this degree. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, sister and wife, Erma Vaughan Kennedy. He is survived by sons Doug Kennedy and wife, Starr of Arlington, Texas and Charles Kennedy of New Fairview, Texas; step-daughters, Ellen Roppolo of Seven Points, Texas and Karen Vaughan and husband, Mansoor Azarhooshang of Alexandria, Virginia and son-in-law Don Roppolo of Ennis, TX. He is also survived by grandchildren, Jason Kennedy and wife Chastity, Ashley Durrett and husband, Brian all of Midlothian, Texas, Kena Long-Jordan, Clay Kennedy and Heidi Bow and husband, Bill, all of Waxahachie, Texas and Hedy Azarhooshang of Alexandria, Virginia and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of First United Methodist Church, 505 W. Marvin Ave., Waxahachie, Texas at 11 am, Friday, February 8, 2013, with the Rev. Jerry Galloway officiating.
