Edward Council Dawson, 88 of Maypearl, Texas passed away March 18, 2014 in Arlington, Texas. He was born April 11, 1925 in Maypearl to the late Lural E. & Ruby Allene Eubank Dawson. After high school Ed joined the US Navy during WWII where he served as a specialist M for his battleship and also played baseball for the Navy. After his return from the war, he attended North Texas State University and graduated with a degree in education in 1948. Ed worked for many years for Contenintal EMSCO Derick and Equipment Company in sales and store management. In 1953 he begin his farming and ranching business raising Beefmaster cattle for many years. Ed was also associated with Five Star Auctions, buying and selling vintage farm equipment. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie. He will be dearly missed by his family and all that knew him and loved him. He is survived by his longtime companion and friend Kay Hodges of Bedford, Texas; 1 Son: James Edward Dawson of Waxahachie; 3 Daughters: Connie E. Wammack of Red Oak, Texas, Donna I. McKinnon of Maypearl, Texas and Melanie A. Davis of Kerrville, Texas; 1 Sister: Tommie L. Morris of Mesquite, Texas; 8 Grandchildren: 4 Great Grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Heath Simms officiating. Interment will follow at the Maypearl Cemetery. Visitation with the family is scheduled from 5-7 PM Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
