Mrs. Rutherford passed away early Saturday morning at Charlton Methodist Hospital.
She was born in Mt Peak to Hugh and Fanny Stansberry McAlpin. She graduated from Midlothian High School in 1937 and married Thomas B Rutherford on October 23, 1946 in Waxahachie. She was employed for a short time during World War II for Chance Vaught Aircraft and also with Haggar Slacks. The majority of her life was spent as a homemaker. Mrs. Rutherford was a lifetime member of The First United Methodist Church, the Fidelis Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women. She was always a great help to her family and her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty Ruth Jahnke and husband Paul of Duncanville, Texas; two brothers, Jack McAlpin and wife Bonnie and Gene McAlpin and wife Doris, both of Mt. Peak, Texas. Also two sisters survive, Helen Armstrong and Merle Browning also of Mt. Peak and a grandson, Paul Thomas Vinson and wife Danielle of Waxahachie, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas B Rutherford, two brothers, Bill McAlpin and Wayne McAlpin, and three sisters, Laura Mae McAlpin, Ada Browning and Frances Woodard.

The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday, April 11th, 2004 from 3 to 5 PM at the Wayne Boze Funeral home. The Celebration of Life will be Monday, April 12th, 2004 at 10 AM in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
