Edna Pearl Ashburn, age 82

Mrs. Ashburn passed away Monday night in Mesquite, TX. She was born in Plain Dealing, LA. Henry Thomas and Docia Dora (Smith) Dixon. She was raised in Red Oak, TX. and graduated from Red Oak High School. She and James Homer Ashburn were married December 1, 1951. Mrs. Ashburn was an accountant/bookkeeper for International Harvester in Dallas for over 27 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson, where she worked in the office after her retirement. Mrs. Ashburn loved music, her family, friends, church and Billy Graham.
Her survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, James and Bernadine Ashburn of Dallas; daughter, Doris Blackford of Garland; sister, Iris Dean Barker of Red Oak; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Homer Ashburn in 1984.
The family will receive friends and relatives 4-8 PM Wednesday at the Red Oak Boze Family Funeral Home. The Celebration of her Life will be 2 PM Thursday, February 16, 2006 in the Red Oak Chapel with Brother Darrel Grice officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Ashburn, Jim Blackford, Jimmy Watkins, Brad Kendrick, Michael Kendrick and Danny Thomas. Interment will follow in the Red Oak Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Heights Baptist Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Red Oak Funeral Home.
