Edith Estelle Ward, age 91
February 23, 1913
January 27, 2005

Mrs. Edith Estelle Ward, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2005 in Red Oak, Texas. She was born February 23, 1913 in Oklahoma to James and Lela Fults. Edith married Henry Sircy Ward November 27, 1932 in Lamesa, Texas.

"Mamaw' enjoyed spending her time making quilts, cooking for family, and attending Belmont Baptist in Odessa, where she was an active member and a teacher in the Primary Department for many years. She had attended church at Belmont since the late 1940's. An avid fisherwoman, Edith also enjoyed spending time with family at Lake Amistad, near Del Rio, Texas. We all enjoyed many fond memories with family during these special times.

She is survived by: her children, Reverend James E. Ward of York, PA., and Kenneth R. Ward of San Antonio, and Mary Estelle Landrum of Red Oak, Texas. Edith and Sircy also raised three nephews and a niece: Don Judd of Dallas, Jesse Ward (deceased), Forrest Ward of Amarillo and Brenda Hodge of Saginaw, Texas. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She also is survived by two sisters, Mary Harman of Dallas and Jimmie Covington of Huntsville, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, January 30, 2005 from 6-8 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home in Odessa. The graveside rites will be 3 PM Monday, January 31, 2005 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. Her son, Reverend James E. Ward will be officiating the service and assisted by Dr. Roger Ward, grandson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Belmont Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas.

Arrangements are under the direction of Red Oak Funeral Home.
