Eddy Reed

Eddy L. Reed of Waxahachie passed away, Thursday November 10, 2016 at Ennis Care Center in Ennis. On September 26, 1939, Eddy was born in Menlow, Texas to Tommy and Frankie (Miller) Reed.

He grew up in Abbott and graduated from Abbott High School in 1957. After graduation, Eddy worked at General Tire in Waco. He was also a truck driver for Billy Franks Trucking, C.O. Bruce Trucking and Time DC. Eddy also worked for Dallas Power and Light for 15 years.

Eddy met Linda Sue McNeely, of Waxahachie, in 1965 and they were married on March 1, 1969 in Hillsboro, Texas. Together Eddy and Linda Sue started Reed Trucking Company in 1970 and own and operated it for over 30 years he hauled insulation for Owens Corning in Waxahachie.

Eddy and Linda Sue have been married 47 years and 8 months.

Eddy was greatly involved in many community activities over the years. He coached Pee-Wee football in Waxahachie for several years. Eddy was appointed by the City Council many years ago to serve on the Waxahachie Rodeo Board of Directors. He was recognized by the Waxahachie High School Class of 1993 as well as the Tarleton State University Plowboys for his dedication and willingness to always help. He was an avid supporter of law enforcement. He participated in many parades by hauling football teams and others for many years until his health started to decline.

Eddy loved his family and had many friends. He never met a stranger. He cared about everyone he met and would help anyone he could. His main enjoyment was working on the family farm in Hillsboro.

Eddy is survived by his wife, Linda Sue; one son Craig L. Reed (Kelli) and one daughter Cindy S. Reed Wiedemann (Jonathan) both of Waxahachie. Six granddaughters: Carissa L. Reed of Kaufman, Kalie J. Reed, Caislea K. and Karlyn J. Reed all of Waxahachie, Chanlee Sue Wiedemann of Waxahachie and Mackenzie Wiedemann of Duncanville. One sister-n-law, Beth Reed of Waco; one aunt, Frances Craig of Hillsboro; one special niece, Belinda Kay Wiginton (Bill) of Arlington; several nieces and nephews; many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Frankie and his stepfather, Martin Joe Padgett, whom he thought of as a father; one brother Billy Tom Reed; mother-n-law Jewel McNeely; father-n-law, Ray McNeely; two brother-n-laws, Floyd McNeely and Jimmy McNeely.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, November 19 at 1 pm in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home located in Waxahachie. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, November 18 from 6 - 8 pm at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral service at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro.
