Duane M. "Melvin" Farmer, age 79

November 5, 2004

Melvin Farmer, lifetime Ellis County resident, passed away Friday at the Arlington Medical Center. He was born in Frost to J. D. and Emma "Fannie" (Bennett) Farmer. Mr. Farmer attended Frost Schools. He served in the US Army during WWII. He and Virginia Williams were married December 28, 1946 in Waxahachie. After his discharge, he was a Union Carpenter in the Dallas area for a number of years. Mr. Farmer retired from Texas Instruments as a Carpenter after 20 years. He was a member of the Nash Masonic Lodge, had many friends with the Senior Citizens and enjoyed hunting, fishing and dancing. Melvin was of the Baptist Faith.

Mr. Farmer is survived by: sons, Duane Farmer and wife Linda of Waxahachie, Darrell Farmer and wife Brenda of Allen, and Dennis Farmer and wife Darlene of Trinidad; daughters, Linda McCafferty and husband Barry of Keller and Dorothy Gail O'Daniel of Ennis; sister, Pauline Farmer of Italy; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia, infant son, Dale; daughter, Carolyn Farmer; and brother, J. D. Farmer.

The family will receive friends and relatives 5-7 PM Sunday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of his Life will be 10 AM Monday, November 8, 2004 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Kenny Emerson officiating. Pallbearers will be Josh Farmer, Jordan Farmer, Wesley Alford, Jesse Alford, Jerry Alford, Caleb Green, Marc Brodt, and Jeremy Timmerman. Interment will follow in Waxahachie City Cemetery.
