Dr. John David King, 85, of Waxahachie, died on December 10, 2009 at the Red Oak Rehabilitation Center. Born on February 2, 1924, in Dallas, Texas, "Doc" King was preceded in death by his parents, John Isaac and Reda Wicker King, and by his first wife and mother of his children, Mary Ann Baird King. He is survived by his wife, Jerry Goins King, and his five children, Claudia King Williams, John David King, Jr., Billie Jean King, Mary Jo Blaine and James Baird King, as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dr. King was a graduate of Sunset High School in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Trinity University in Waxahachie and Baylor School of Medicine in Houston. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict. He practiced medicine in Waxahachie from 1948 until 1953.
