Michael Terry Gilbreath was born on July 6, 1955 in Dallas, Texas and passed away unexpectedly at Baylor Hospital in Waxahachie on October 28, 2015. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1973, Texas A & M University in 1977 and from Texas A & M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. While in college he married Terri Turner on December 17, 1977. After veterinary school, he worked for 5 years in Whitehall, Wisconsin and 1 year in Longview, Texas before opening his practice in Waxahachie, Texas in 1986. He was owner and veterinarian of Waxahachie Veterinary Clinic. Mike will be remembered for his faith, his dedication to his family and his unending generosity. He was a self-sacrificing man who would do anything for anyone; friend, family or stranger. He was always ready to share his love for Jesus Christ with others, and the way he lived was a testament to a heart filled with the presence of God. He will be missed more than words can express. He was an active member of The Avenue Church. Mike had two significant passions: care for orphans and care for animals. He was an active supporter of Empowering Lives International Children's Home in Kenya and an active supporter of the Texas A & M Foundation for veterinary research. He is survived by his wife Terri; children: Amy Smith and husband Gabe, Sarah Ackerley, Jake Gilbreath, Joey Gilbreath and wife Jessica, Caleb Gilbreath, Alex Gilbreath and Corey Gilbreath; grandchildren Malcolm Smith, Coraline Smith, Cameryn Gilbreath, and Parker Gilbreath. Mike is also survived by his mother Vernelle Gilbreath and his brother Cameron Gilbreath. His father Ancel Gilbreath preceded him in death. A visitation will be at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home on Friday, October 30 from 6-8 PM. A Celebration of His Life will be at The Avenue Church on Saturday, October 31 at 2 PM with David Brown and Bruce Zimmerman officiating.
