William Gerald Cox , Age 65
March 29, 1938-December 15, 2003
Dr. Cox was born in Waxahachie to William Cox and Ruth (Esselman) Cox. He graduated Waxahachie High School in 1956. He was employed with TP&L. He attended Arlington State College and was a 1959 grad in Industrial Electrical Engineering. He attended Texas A&M from 1960-1965 where he received his bachelors in Animal Science and DVM in 1965. Dr. Cox was employed with Dr. Meryl Weedon from 1965-1972. He opened his own clinic in 1972 where he worked until present. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church. Dr. Cox was a member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, the Dallas County Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Bovine Practitioners. He was a sponsor of Ag Co-op program at Waxahachie High School since 1972.
He is survived by: His wife Dorothy (Bigham) Cox of Waxahachie. One son, Clay Cox and wife Becky of Midlothian. One daughter, Dana Cox De Bruyn and her husband Van of Little Rock Arkansas. Five Grandchildren: Ashley and Kaylie Cox of Midlothian Tx., Collin, Shea, and Brynn De Bruyn of Little Rock Arkansas. His mother, Ruth Cox of Waxahachie. One brother, Glenn Cox and his wife Debbie of McKinney. Two Sisters, Marilyn Harris and her husband Charles of Lorena, Tx., and Susan Pannill and her husband Mark of Waxahachie. Mother in law Cecelia Bigham and brother in law Jimmy Bigham and his wife Barbara of Waxahachie. Numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2 PM Thursday at First Baptist Church, Waxahachie, with Dr. Leroy Fenton officiating. Pallbearers will be Dale Burleson, Charles McCrady, Brian Kesner, Chris Garippa, Brett Bigham, Brandon Deere, Kyle Harris. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ron Appleton, Ed Carter, Al Bratcher, and Roy Schultz. Interment will follow in Waxahachie City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Waxahachie.
