Douglas "D.D." Hobbs, 64 of Midlothian, Texas passed away Thursday, August 08, 2013 in Midlothian. He was born December 28, 1948 in Greenville, Texas to Claude Roy & Freda Haynes Hobbs. D.D. was a loving husband of 38years to Peggy, a dedicated father to his three children, and a fun loving "Pop" to his four grandchildren. He spent 6 years in the Navy during the Vietnam War, and then joined H&R Plumbing; the family owned plumbing, heating and air conditioning business in Greenville, Texas. He moved on to become the Assistant Director of Facilities Services with the Irving ISD, where he worked for more than 24 years. D.D. was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and enjoyed spending time at his weekend home in Fairfield, Texas where future generations will continue to enjoy the home he built. He can best be described by his friends and family as a selfless, humble, family centered man. He will be dearly missed by his family and everyone who knew him and loved him. He is survived by his wife Peggy Hobbs of Midlothian, Texas; 1 Son and daughter in law: Zachary & Susan Hobbs of Forney, Texas; 2 Daughters: Holly & Adam Henderson of Prosper, Texas; and Whitney Hobbs of Cedar Hill, Texas; 2 Brothers and sisters in laws: Tommy & Janet Hobbs of Bertram, Texas and Ronny & Cindy Hobbs of Greenville, Texas; 4 Grandchildren: Andrew & Katherine Hobbs and Tyler & Emily Henderson; Numerous Nieces and Nephews and a host of friends. D. D. was preceded in death by his father Claude Hobbs in 2001. A memorial service to celebrate his life is scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie with Rev. Eric Douglas officiating. Visitation with the family is scheduled from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie.
