Dorothy Young, 89, peacefully lost her 11-year battle with Alzheimer's on Saturday, September 17, 2016. She was at home when the Lord called her home.
A graveside service will be held at the Waxahachie City Cemetery, on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 10:00 am.
Dorothy or "Dottie" as she was better known worked for the Waxahachie Police Department as a dispatcher and retired from a dedicated service after 22 years in 1992. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Waxahachie until the stages of her disease kept her from attending her beloved Sunday school classes with her friends.
Young was married to the love of her life, Paul H. Young until his untimely death in January 1980. Her survivors include her three daughters all of Waxahachie, Margaret & Gary Ashton, Pamala Wheeler-Grimes and husband Gary McKnight; Melody Wheeler-Carrington and her partner Carlos Lozano, four grandchildren Dwaine Ashton (Lynda) of Waxahachie, Vincent Grimes (Loren) of Colorado, Krysten Southers (Josh) of Waxahachie and Hunter Carrington (Madison) of Fort Worth along with six great grandchildren that she adored.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you send an in kind donation to the Fort Worth Botanical Society for a garden memorial bench and or The Alzheimer's Foundation. Family and friends are welcome to gather with Dorothy's children, family and extended family at 1702 Alexander Drive, Waxahachie, to rejoice her life and remember her tenacious but loving spirit.
