Dorothy Wood

Dorothy Jean Wood, 64, went to be with the lord, early Saturday, December 3rd, 2011, surrounded by her loved ones following a lengthy illness. Known as Jeannie to her family and friends, she was born in Waxhachie, Texas, October 14, 1947, to Alex Curtis Thomas & Vera Louise Archer. She is survived by her loving husband, Larry, of 36 years. She is also survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Glenda & Jay Hyatt of Valdosta, GA, her son, Larry Lee Wood, of Waxahachie, her brother, Carroll Thomas & his wife Susan, also of Waxhachie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, brother, Alex Curtis Thomas Jr. & his wife, Peggy, her sister, Melanie Ann Stephens, and sister-in-law, Virginia Thomas. Jeannie attended Waxahachie schools. After high school, she lived briefly in Waco, Texas, before moving back permanently to Waxhachie. She worked for Northern Propane Gas Company as an office manager for 10 years. She then worked as a maintenance secretary for TXI Industries of Midlothian for approximately 10 years. Over the past 9 years, she was a tax accountant for Ennis Business Forms. She attended Midlothian Bible Church for 30 years. The last 6 years she was a member of Covenant Life Church of Waxahachie. Jeannie loved cooking, calligraphy, sports cars & animals. She frequently made visits with donations to the Ellis County SPCA. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 6th, from 5 to 7 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Jerry Parsons, Wednesday, December 7th, 2:00 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
