Dorothy Elizabeth Norsworthy Walker was born to James Malcom Norsworthy and Inez Elizabeth (Patrick) Norsworthy in Laurel Mississippi on June 12, 1919 and entered Heaven's gate on Palm Sunday, April 1, 2012 in Waxahachie, Texas with her family by her side. She was 92 years old. She was the 8th of 9 children born to her parents. She was married to Guy Walker in 1972 and enjoyed 20 wonderful years; he preceded her in death in June of 1992. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Thelma, Myrtle, Alice, Maude, twin sisters, Edith and Edna and one brother, L. A. Norsworthy. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Vicki Lynn Hollins and husband, Sherman of Waxahachie, Texas whom she loved and adored; 2 grandchildren, Cynthia Prox of Lockhart, Texas; a special grandson, Robert Hilley of Lancaster, Texas who were the light of her life; 3 great-grandchildren, Destiny Victoria Prox and Danielle Marshae' Prox of Kaufman, Texas and Allysen Elizabeth Jackson of Waxahachie, Texas that she was so proud of; one sister, Francis Eloise Fox of Austin, Texas; a special nephew, James Mark Norsworthy of Dallas; and many nieces and nephews in Mississippi, Alabama and New Jersey and many friends who will miss her dearly. Dorothy was a wonderful Christian woman and mother who loved and cared for her family until the very end. She was loved by many and had enjoyed many wonderful times with friends from her church family at Crossroads Baptist Church in Lancaster until her health declined and she could no longer attend services. Her church friends continued to be faithful and visited her often; special church friends, Jan Crosby and Jeannie Knight. The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice and Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Waxahachie for the wonderful care and compassion given in Mom's final days. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mom's faithful home caregiver for the past 7 years, Sandra Fails. Home-going memorial services and a celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 Noon at Crossroads Baptist Church, corner of Blue Grove and Beltline, Lancaster, Texas on Friday, April 6, 2012. There will be a visitation for family and friends at 10:30 a.m. at the church and will last until service tiime. A luncheon/reception will be held at the church immediately following the service. Inurnment services will be private.
