Dorothy Louise Byars Owens November 9, 1925 October 16, 2010 Dorothy Louise Byars Owens, born November 9, 1924 to James Ollie and Jesse Jane Byars in Waxahachie, died at her home Saturday, October 16, 2010. Dorothy loved to China paint. She was very dedicated to her children and grandchildren and was a devoted wife. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Ollie Byars and Jesse Jane Batts; her husband, Arlis Garner Owens; her granddaughter, Amy Renee Owens; brothers, Jimmy Byars, Jerry Byars, James Perry Byars and Wilburn Byars; one sister, Joyce Byars; half brothers, Byron Byars, Gidney Byars; and one half sister, Rachel Byars. Dorothy is survived by 4 children, Joyce and Rudy Armstrong, Regina and Ronnie Thedford, Scott and Shannon Owens and Richard Owens; 11 grandchildren, Rhonda and Hal Stanford, Lance and Kim Armstrong, Melissa and Stephen McGinley, Travis Armstrong, Corey and Heidi Thedford, Brad and Stacy Owens, Heather and Josh Fails, Kyle Owens, Lynsie Owens and Justin Smith; her sister, Jean Eves; her brother-in-law, BW and his wife, Barbara Owens; 15 great grandchildren, Holli, Marshall and Katibeth Stanford, Taylor and Trent Armstrong, Erika Clark, Courtney Clark, Mitchell Clark, Victoria and Jack Armstrong, Ty and Hanna Thedford, Wade Fails, Tyler and Grant Owens.; 3 great great grandchildren, Kylie Hernandez, Maddison Noe and Laine Bailey. Those serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Lance Armstrong, Travis Armstrong, Corey Thedford, Brad Owens, Kyle Owens and Justin Smith. Services to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at the Waxahachie Bible Church with Pastor Bruce Zimmerman and Rev. Byron Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Branch Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2010 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the lighted Pathway Hospice Organization for the care and support during her illness. The family would also like to give a "special Thank You" to Claudine Everette, Gail Ragen, Patsy Walker, Betty Daniel and the members of the Sunshine Class for being special friends with our mother and for loving her.
