Dorothy Faye Lantz was called home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 13th, 2021, after a short bout with pancreatic cancer.
Dorothy was born on February 22nd, 1931, and lived her early years in Bosque County, Texas where she graduated from Clifton High School in 1948 as Salutatorian. That summer she moved to Dallas to get a job. She took a room in a women’s boarding house on Gaston Avenue and found a job as a secretary the first day. She later went to work for Allstate Insurance where she advanced to Personnel Director. After a short retirement, she went to work as Executive Secretary for the Sears Dallas group manager. Her last job was as loss control manager for a hospital group where she retired in 2010. She was also President of the Dallas chapter of The American Business Women’s Association.
Dorothy was Baptized at an early age and was always active in her Church, Clearview Methodist, later Elmwood Methodist. She sang in the choir, volunteered for whatever arose, and loved reading to children after school.
Dorothy met her future husband, Robert Ray Lantz, shortly after moving to Dallas and they married on February 19, 1949, at his parent's home in Dallas. Their only child, Robert Ray Lantz Jr., was born in August 1951. Dorothy and Robert were together for 35 years before he passed away in 1984. Dorothy continued to live in the house they had purchased in 1949 until she moved into her son’s house in 2010. In 2015 she moved to Red Oak Health and Rehab where she lived out her remaining years. While there, she made many friends, took part in all the activities, and never missed bingo.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents William B. Davis and Bernice Davis, her husband Robert Ray Lantz, and two sisters, Hazel Davis and Carol Lynn Bigham.
Dorothy is survived by three brothers, Maurice Davis, William B. Davis Jr., and James C. Davis, her son Robert Ray Lantz Jr. and his wife Ofelia, four grandchildren, Alissa Wright, David Lantz, Ashley Lantz, and Victoria Lanier, and eight great-grandchildren. Dorothy loved each and every one
