Dorothy Marie Kent, at age 77, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010 in Lancaster , Texas . She was born on November 7, 1932 in Valliant , Oklahoma to the late Ed and Mary Bell. On December 28, 1950 she was married to George Norman Kent, in DeQueen, AR. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2008. They loved each other with all their heart.
Dorothy worked as a waitress for many years before owning her own grocery store, K&W Grocery in Red Oak, Texas. She later worked in food service for the DeSoto ISD. Everyone she came in contact with loved her dearly. She never met a stranger. She opened her home and heart to both family and friends. She always did for others before doing for herself. She will be missed by all.
Dorothy is survived by sons Sammy Kent and his wife, Carolyn of Boerne, Texas; Billy Kent and his wife, Becky of Mabank, Texas; daughter-in-law Christi Kent-Watson and her husband, Jerry, her sister, Etta Vickers of Clarksville, Texas; grandchildren, Bryan Kent and his wife Lisa; Michael Kent and his fiancé, Monika Gonyer; Sara Mendez and her husband, Tristan; Gayle Kent; Richard Kent, and Robert Kent. Great-grandchildren, Jasmine Mendez, Emily Rodriguez and Ciara Kent , and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Wayne Kent, sisters, Florence Robertson, Lily Johnson and Adalene Ives, and brother, William Edward Bell.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, January 22, 2010 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Red Oak, Texas from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Valliant Cemetery , Valliant , Oklahoma with David Hulslander officiating.
Pallbears include: Bryan Kent, Michael Kent, Richard Kent, Robert Kent, Tristan Mendez, Rex Post and William Hulslander/
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Services will be under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Red Oak, Texas.
