Dorothy Chapman

Dorothy Helen Davenport Chapman, 83 of Red Oak, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 in McKinney, Texas surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 1, 1930 in Red Oak, Texas to the late Samuel Levi Vance Davenport and Susie Jewel Davenport. Dorothy married Bobby Charles Chapman October 11, 1947 and they were married for 41 years until his death in September 1989. Dorothy was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Red Oak for many years until moving to McKinney Texas around 2005. During this time, she taught Sunday School for the primary classes while her daughters were young and later on taught an adult class. She volunteered in the office and wherever she was needed. She also served as President of the United Methodist Women there for many years. After moving to McKinney in 2005 she joined Friendship Baptist Church where she remained a member until her death. She was most happy when she was with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to travel and see new places and never wanted to miss a trip. She is survived by her daughters, Janie McCormick and husband, Cecil McCormick; Judy Grant and husband Gary Grant; grandchildren, Cherlyn Morrison and husband, Andy Morrison, Holly Botyos and husband, Kenneth Botyos, Eric West and wife, Jamie West; great grandchildren, Kaylie Morrison, Austin Morrison, Brandon Botyos and Brianna Botyos; her sister, Sammie Smith; her brother, Edwin Davenport and wife, Martha. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob; her sister, Ann Franklin; her brother, David Davenport and her nephew Larry Davenport. Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Red Oak Cemetery.
