Doris Phillips of Reagor Springs, Texas was born January 13, 1925 in Dallas, Texas. It is believed that she passed away on July 25, 2006. She was married to the late R.C. Phillips for 57 years. She graduated from W.H. Adamson High School in Dallas in 1943.

Doris was a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Waxahachie for 38 years where she served in many auxiliary functions. She mentored numerous people for 44 years through an anonymous program helping family members of recovering alcoholics. She served as the Vice President of the Ellis County Art Association for a number of years and continued as an artist throughout her adult life. She was trained at Arnspaugh Art Academy and by various renowned artists.

Doris was an actress who appeared in 8 films such as Places in the Heart, Unto Thee, Dangerous Games, and Valentine's Day. She also appeared in 6 commercials and 6 television shows including Peyton Place; the Next Generation, Walker Texas Ranger, and Bonnie and Clyde. She performed yearly at Scarborough Renaissance Faire and participated in Dickens Fest. Doris was trained in ice-skating, dance, karate self-defense, dialects, characterization, and expression for young ladies at Hockaday. Doris' special skills also included hunting, fishing, sewing, writing, sales, costuming, cooking, telegraph, telephone, and working with animals.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband R.C. Phillips, and granddaughter Misty Phillips. Doris is survived by her daughter Karen Brabham of Waxahachie; son Ron and wife Sandy Phillips of Garland; son Jim and wife Cheryl Phillips of Grand Prairie; son John and wife Carla Phillips of Greenville; stepson Dick Phillips of Plano; stepsister Patsy Griffin of Lufkin; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Her family will receive friends and relatives from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2006 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie. A special movie called "Unto Thee," featuring Doris, will be shown in the chapel from 7:00-8:30 p.m. during the visitation. The memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the Waxahachie Bible Church, located at 621 N. Grand Ave, Waxahachie, Texas, with Doyle Goodspeed of the Northside Church of Christ officiating, and Pastor Sonny Conatser of Southwest Harvest Church in Duncanville serving as the eulogist.
