Doris Gorman

Doris Jo Jenkins Gorman, 83, went into the presence of her Savior on October 5, 2013 at Trinity Mission in Italy, TX. Mrs. Gorman was born February 21, 1930 in Avalon, TX to Cecil and Lois Faye Jenkins. She graduated from Avalon High School in 1946 and married Joe Lee Gorman in 1947. While raising 2 girls, she was also Mr. Gorman's right hand woman on the farm. Once the girls were in school, she pursued her family occupation as a hairdresser. Mrs. Gorman dressed hair at several hot spots in Ellis County which also meant that she served as a resident psychologist. You could have also seen her waiting tables in the 80s at Bill & Rae's Cafe in Italy, TX. Aside from her work, she was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Avalon, TX where she served in many different ways. She loved to laugh and adored her family more than anything. She is survived by daughter, Deborah Wooldridge of Barry, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Larry Donaldson of Waxahachie, TX; grandchildren, Eric and Brad Wooldridge of Barry, TX and Ceci and Jesse Hinojosa of Frisco, TX; and great grandchildren, Liliana and Zoe Hinojosa of Frisco, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lee Gorman, and her parents, Cecil and Lois Faye Jenkins. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 08, 2013 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 09, 2013 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, with Rev. Cleve Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Hughes Cemetery in Avalon, Texas . In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Avalon or the Hughes Cemetery Association.
