Donald Vecsey

On Sunday, August 14, 2022, Donald “Don” William Vecsey, a loving son, brother, brother-in-love, uncle and friend passed away at his home in Italy, TX. A private memorial service with family and friends will be held at a later date.

Don was born in New Rochelle, NY to the late Donald and Peggy Vecsey. Don worked for United Airlines for 35 years. He served in many different roles and was highly regarded by his co-workers and supervisors as someone with excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. The letters of commendation he received were numerous and something he was extremely proud of. The roles in which he served at United Airlines were: Aircraft Avionics Technician, Aircraft Maintenance Technician, Lead Aircraft Maintenance/Lead Avionics Technician and at the time of his retirement he was serving as a Maintenance Controller.

Don enjoyed fishing, kayaking, tinkering with his 1980 VW Scirocco, exploring Colorado trails in his Jeep and a wide variety of music. He loved spending time with his family and sharing a multitude of stories from his time working in the airline industry. He made countless friends throughout his career and talked about them fondly and often. He was well versed in travel as his work with United Airlines took him to multiple airports across the world. He was an incredible artist, and his cartoon drawings and caricatures were more than impressive. He had a knack for taking a generic birthday or holiday card and inputting his own whimsical drawings to make them something special.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Peggy Vecsey.

Survivors include his brother, Joe Vecsey of Georgetown, KY, Steve Vecsey and his wife, Kim of Waxahachie, TX, nephew Kyle Vecsey and his wife, Caitlin of Italy, TX, nephew Jacob Vecsey and niece Kelsey Vecsey of Waxahachie, TX, bonus parents, Judy and Edward Kilcrease of Waxahachie, TX, great-niece Graceyn of Italy, TX and bonus brother Dale Denemark of Arlington, TX.
