Donald Vecsey

Donald Louis Vecsey, 83 of Waxahachie, formerly of Elyria and Wellington, Ohio, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 in a Dallas hospital. He was born to the late Joseph and Henrietta Vecsey on June 7, 1930 in Queens, NY. Don married the love of his life, Peggy Lou Baker January 10, 1952 in Sharpesville, PA. Don and Peggy celebrated 61 years of marriage before Peggy's passing in February. He served our country in the United States Navy and began his service in the Marine Corps reserves. Don always enjoyed attending his Navy reunion's and sharing stories. Don was a Lead mechanic for 33 years for United Airlines and retired in 1990. After Don's retirement he served as Chief Maintenance Officer for the Cleveland Wing of the Confederate Air Force (CAF). He enjoyed spending time vacationing at their time share in Orange Lake Resort, Orlando, FL. He loved working on airplanes and spending time with his family. Don took great pride in taking care of Peggy and they always enjoyed their time together. He is survived by his sons, Don Vecsey of Waxahachie, Joe Vecsey and his wife, Christine of Lexington, KY, Steve Vecsey and his wife, Kim of Waxahachie; his sister, Alice Zanine of Florida; 3 grandchildren, Kyle, Jacob and Kelsey Vecsey; adopted son, Dale Denemark of Arlington. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Peggy Vecsey; his parents, Joseph and Henrietta Vecsey; 3 brothers, Joseph, Howard and Tommy Vecsey. A memorial service to celebrate his life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Chaplain Marvin Mott officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013 at the family home. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
