Donald F. Reaser passed away on Dec. 29, 2009, in Waxahachie, TX after a brief illness. Born on Sept. 30, 1931, in Wichita Falls, TX, he was Professor Emeritus of Geology at the University of Texas at Arlington where he taught for more than 40 years.

Don received his PhD degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and he held BS and MS degrees in geology from SMU where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was a graduate of Highland Park High School and served in the US Air Force.

He was a certified professional geologist of the American Institute of Professional Geologists and a registered professional geoscientist with the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists. He was a 32nd-degree member of the Masonic Lodge.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Norene Wales and Fred S. Reaser. He is survived by his wife Bette Forrest Reaser of Waxahachie; sister-in-law Dell F. Andrews of Waxahachie; step son David Forrest Anderson of Richmond, TX; cousins James F. Strong of Point Venture, TX, Robert Wales of Melissa, TX, and Marita Wagner of Midland, TX; and nephews John F. Andrews of New York City, Jeff Andrews of Dallas and Bill Borders of Aurora, IL.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, with funeral services immediately following visitation at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Waxahachie City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Donald F. Reaser Scholarship, University of Texas at Arlington, PO Box 19049, TX, 76019.
