Donald Lynn Childress, lifetime Ellis County resident, passed away Tuesday at the Baylor Medical Center, Waxahachie. He was born in Waxahachie to Lester Childress and Maxine Cox Hobbs. Donald graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1966, then served in the US Army 1968-1970 in Vietnam. He married Brenda Lanier December 31, 1994 in Dallas. Don was owner/operator of Don's Signs and Designs. His hobbies were making stained glass, an amateur archeologist and was a friendly gambler. He was a quiet reserved person with dry wit. He was a member of the Water Street Baptist Church.

His survivors include: his wife, Brenda Childress of Waxahachie; mother, Maxine Hobbs of Ennis; son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Brandy Childress of Red Oak; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clyde and Larue Lanier of Waxahachie; step-daughters, April Daily of Coppell and Christina Balling and husband Bruce of Dumphries, VA; brother, Ronald Childress of Ennis; sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Woody Gray of Navarro Mills; grandson, Noah Childress; mother of his children, Nancy Hall Childress of Red Oak. Brothers-in-laws and wife, John and Anne Lanier of Canton, Mi., Brian and Chell Lanier of Waxahachie, TX. Also many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family that are dearly loved. His father and daughter, Rachel Childress, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-9 PM Friday, January 12, 2007 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
