Donald Wayne Boze died Saturday evening, August 17, 2024, at his home in Henderson, Texas, after a 3 year battle with cancer. He was a long-time member of the Waxahachie Bible Church before moving to East Texas to be near his son and his family.
Wayne was born in Waxahachie on March 23, 1951, to Patrick W. Boze and Jessie Beryl Chisolm Boze. He was a third-generation funeral director and embalmer and very proud of being a native Texan and generations long native of Waxahachie.
Along with hunting and fishing, Wayne had a great love of working the land. He dreamed of being a farmer and finally, after retirement, fulfilled his dream of riding a tractor full-time. Among other things, Wayne served in the Air National Guard and Tyler Police Department. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Maria “Maggie” Boze; daughter, Billie Manz (Duane) of North Augusta, SC; sons, Patrick Wayne Boze II (Kelly) of Owensville, MO; and Julian Boze (Jessica) of Henderson, TX. He also has 3 grandsons, Ethan Boze, Jonathan Boze, and Jackson Boze. He is also survived by his siblings Laura Linda Morton (Pat) of Barbados; Nancy Boze of Waxahachie, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bettie Roark.
A memorial service will be held at the Waxahachie Bible Church on Friday, August 23rd at 2pm with the Reverend Bruce Zimmerman officiating and Pastor Heath Sims assisting.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Northeast Texas Cancer and Research Institute in memory of Wayne Boze at 501 S. Saunders Avenues, Tyler, TX 75702.
