Don Jones

Donald Jerome Jones, 86, stepped into the arms of Jesus, Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Don was born in Waxahachie, Texas on March 22, 1937, to JR and Blanche (Sis) Jones.

Don married the love of his life, Jean, November 24, 1956, and began his career as a computer programmer with IBM in downtown Dallas. Don changed the course of his life when God called him into the ministry. He pastored churches in Haskell, Tenaha, Port Neches, and Brookeland, Texas and in Tioga, Louisiana. While in Louisiana he went back to computer programming with the city of Alexandria. Don and Jean eventually moved back to Duncanville, Texas where he worked in sales until his retirement. They later moved to Corsicana, Texas.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Patricia Shelton and her husband, Guy, who was a special friend to Don.

Don is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jean, of Corsicana, Texas. He is also survived by four daughters and their spouses: Jeannie and Jeff Thompson of Emory; Sara and Sam Wright of Hempstead; Donna and Darwin Myers of Corsicana; Angela and Kent Powell of Cedar Hill. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and their spouses and 25 great grandchildren. Don is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Don’s grandsons: Christopher Thompson, Joseph Thompson, Daniel Thompson, Tyson Thompson, Sam Wright, Jr., and Aaron Myers.
