Don Edward Almand, age 66
February 5, 1937

Don was born February 5, 1937 to David and Frances (Fanny) Almand in Waxahachie, Texas. He was a devoted lifelong native.

On September 15, 1963 Don married his true love, Glenda Louise Holder of Fort Worth. They celebrated their 41st anniversary last month. At an early age, Don bought and sold bicycles which led to his interest in buying and selling cars. He operated his own used car business and later worked for Dealers Auto Auction in Grand Prairie. Don was a member of Ferris Avenue Baptist Church. He loved antique and classic cars and was a charter member of Late Great Chevys of Dallas where he served as a director on the executive committee in the club's beginning.

He is survived by his wife; two sisters, Marjorie Allen and her husband Bill, and Mary Nell Rippey and her husband Bill. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Doherty Shackleford; and a nephew, Robert Wayne Doherty.

The family will receive relatives and friends 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Thursday, October 23, 2003 at Ferris Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery.
