Lena Dolores Almand, 87 of Waxahachie, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Renfro Healthcare Center of Waxahachie. She was born to the late George W. and Honor G. Martindale Calhoun on August 9, 1921.
Dolores was proud to be a Christian and love the Lord. She was a member of Ferris Heights Methodist Church. Dolores was an avid reader, an excellent cook and seamstress, and an accomplished artist. She loved her family and grandchildren and was very devoted to them. She will be missed by so many who knew her and loved her.

She is survived by her Son, James M. Almand, Sr. and his wife Beverly of Waxahachie; her daughter, Patricia J. Ashmore and her husband, Charles of Garland; her sister, Margaret Pitts of Waxahachie; her brother, Danny Martindale and his wife, Margaret of Ennis; her daughter-in-law, Patsy Almand of Italy; her grandchildren, James Almand, Jr., and wife Theresa, Suzanne Almand Broad, Patrick Edward Almand and fiance, Meagan, Jeffery Clark Almand and wife, Angela, Rhonda Wilkins and husband, Michael; great grandchildren, Kyle and Jessica Wilkins, Andrew Almand Broad and David, Allison, Meegan, and Jacob; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Clarence M. Almand; their son, Ronald C. Almand; her parents, and by her brothers, C. T. Calhoun and G. W. Calhoun, Jr.

Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2009 at Ferris Heights United Methodist Church with Dr. Mike Ramsdale and Rev. Jan Baldwin officiating under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery, Dallas.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
