Dee McNeill was born Delores Evelyn Pauline Miller on January 5, 1945 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She passed away peacefully in her Waxahachie, Texas home on Friday, February 9, 2024 surrounded by caregivers and her niece.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Laverne (Arnold) Miller, her father, Paul Olan Miller, brother Thomas Miller and beloved husband, Larry McNeill.
She is survived by her sisters Melvina Miller and Lou (Miller) Esparza; sons Larry Paul (and Keisha), Scott David (and Rachada), and Jonatan Marc (and Jen). She is also survived by her dearly loved grandchildren Fallon, Marleigh, Noah, Nash, Nico; and great-grandchildren, Garrett, and Everett. She was loved and survived by her dear brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Darlene McNeill; niece and nephew Brenda (Esparza) Elledge (and Phillip), Jerry Esparza; great nephews Riley, Reed, and Rowdy Elledge, and great-niece Lindsey Esparza.
Dee was raised in an Assemblies of God home. Her parents served as lay pastors. As a child she was fascinated by other cultures and poured over an old set of encyclopedias, “Lands and People.” As a teenager, she believed God would use her in missions and she began her preparation for ministry by attending Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie, Texas. There she and Larry met and assisted in planting their first outreach to Spanish speaking individuals in Ennis, Texas. She learned Spanish choruses and taught the children in a tiny room when it became too cold to hold their services outdoors.
After their respective graduations from SAGC (now University), they married on December 21, 1963. Later they moved to Providence, Rhode Island and planted their first church, Trinity Assembly of God.
In 1975 the McNeills were approved as Assemblies of God missionaries to Spain where they led in ministerial development and taught for over 10 years in Seminario Evangelico Espanol in Madrid. From 1988 – 1994 they pastored in Oklahoma before being reappointed to the Latin American/Caribbean region where they served with La Facultad de Teologia, graduate school of theology until Larry’s passing in 2015.
Teaching and church planting was the primary focus of the McNeills for more than 50 years of ministry and Dee was a true partner in every sense. She was fully engaged in teaching, mentoring young ministers, counseling, and encouraging those who came into her sphere of influence. Throughout many hardships and their physical sufferings, they were always reminded of those who had less and found it a joy to minister to them and truly felt they received much more in return. On Friday, February 9, 2024 Dee entered heaven and was reunited with the love of her life, other precious family, and heard her savior say, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”
