Delia Ann Lonon, age 64
July 18, 1939
May 8, 2004

Delia Ann Lonon passed away May 8, at HEB Harris Methodist Hospital in Hurst, Texas
after a 6 month battle with cancer.

Delia was born in Kerens, Texas to Eldridge and Valkey McCord on July 18, 1939. As a child she developed talents in music and voice. By the time she was four years old she was a local celebrity singing on Radio programs. She continued to sing and play the piano and eventually the drums all the way through her high school years. All the while an honor student to prove to her older brothers she was just as smart as they were.

On April 20, 1957 she married George Lonon and started her family. Her son Buddy was born in 1958 and Lezlie was born in 1964.

Delia had a career in the mortgage title business where she held the title of vice president for several different companies. Delia retired in the early 1990's but after a few years she got bored. At this point she found a job as a teacher's assistant and truly loved working with all of the children, she continued to work in this capacity until her illness in the late fall of 2003.

Her son Buddy and daughter Lezlie survive Delia, as do her daughter-in-law Judy and son-in-law to be Mario; grandchildren, Neil and Lindsey; sister, Marilyn Carter; brothers, Prof. Neal McCord and Dr. Eddie McCord; sisters-in-law, Valda Bonner and Sue McCord; brother-in-law, Dave Carter; special grandmother-in-law, Virginia Chenault; and all of the nieces and nephews and many friends that she loved dearly. Delia was preceded in death by her loving husband George Lonon and her brother Rev. John McCord.

Delia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She was very strong in her faith and touched many lives with her generosity and kindness.

Delia was in the process of becoming a daughter of the Republic of Texas; obviously this will carry on through her Daughter Lezlie and Granddaughter Lindsey. Her favorite pastimes included time spent with her Grandson Neil and shopping sprees with Granddaughter Lindsey. She was also an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Delia's memory will live on through the love of her family.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4 PM Sunday, May 23, 2004 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
