David Peter Swartz, Sr., 75, departed this life on January 7, 2021, at the VA Hospital in Dallas, Texas following a lengthy battle with bladder cancer. He was born on August 14, 1945 to Donald and Ruth Swartz (Brown) in Monroe, Michigan.

David is survived by Vivian, his devoted wife and best friend of 36 years.

After graduating Monroe High School in 1963, David enlisted in the US Marine Corp, serving his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he spent a long career at Guardian Industries, in which he developed many lifelong friendships.

In addition to his wife, David is survived by his sister Donna Hicks of Monroe, Michigan, daughter Leslie of Galveston, Texas, son David, Jr. (Alicia) of Santa Fe, Texas, son Jeffrey (Angel) of Galveston, Texas, and daughter Donna of Galveston, Texas. Also surviving are the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren he was blessed with, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his many dear friends, including his Guardian Industries family.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, and brothers Dennis and Doug.

David will be remembered for his kindness, intelligence and quick wit, love for his country, loyalty to family and friends, and his love of dogs. He was an avid reader, and loved watching military documentaries. Other hobbies include gun and coin collecting, and his children have many fond memories of amusement park and roller coaster adventures as children.

David loved to travel, and took many cross-country road trips on his beloved Harley Davidson(s). We know he is back on his bike now and riding free.
