David Ream, steadfast husband, father, Pops, and coach, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 at the age of 65.
David was born on September 15, 1955 near Enid, Oklahoma to Joe and Oleta Ream. He graduated from Caprock High School in Amarillo, Texas and attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma where he met the love of his life, Janie. They married December 21, 1977.
David was a high school football coach and educator for more than 37 years. He coached at Caprock and Palo Duro high schools in Amarillo, Texas and at Hobbs High School in New Mexico before moving to Liberty-Eylau High School in Texarkana, Texas in 1989. In 1999, Coach Ream led the Liberty-Eylau Leopards to the city’s first-ever state football championship. He moved to Waxahachie High School in 2000 where he coached for 15 seasons, fielded 12 playoff teams, and won more than 100 games.
David was known by his family, friends, coaches, and players as kind and generous; a mentor, role model, and friend. He spent his life dedicated to growing young men through the sport of football and brought joy and special memories to each community he served.
David is survived by his parents, Joe and Oleta Ream; his wife, Janie; their two children Alison Ream; Kelsey Solis and her husband Brian Solis; grandchildren Andrew and Hannah Solis; sisters Laquita Baker, Janita Hopkins, Joleta Boyles, Lorita Bishop; brother Jerry Ream; numerous sisters- and brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, and cousins; an extended coaching family; and countless friends, former players, and colleagues.
Memorial contributions are welcomed in David’s name to the Waxahachie Education Foundation, the Liberty-Eylau Education Foundation, and Meals on Wheels of North Central Texas
