David Cannon Nance passed from this life peacefully on Tuesday morning July 7th 2021. He was born on June 26th 1930 in Coryell county Texas. He was blessed with 91 years on this earth. He was a family man and provided very well for a man with only an 8th grade education. He worked 19 years for Dresser Industries in Dallas as a welder and 15 years at Owens Corning as a maintenance mechanic where he retired in 1993.
He lived life to the fullest and beat all odds by surviving a gunshot wound when he was 11 years old and carried the bullet in his head for the rest of his life. He also survived several bouts with cancer. He was not bashful and never met a stranger. He enjoyed speaking at toastmasters and was very good at story telling. He was a member of the Waxahachie Masonic Lodge #90 and attended First Baptist Church of Waxahachie. He enjoyed camping, fishing, money hunting, motorcycles, photography and playing dominos. He was also a good trick water skier when he was young.
He is survived by his wife of 66 plus years Dorothy Nance, two daughters, Sharon and Rodney Harris, and Carol DeCorte, one son, Sam and Cynthia Nance. Twelve Grand Children and eleven Great Grand Children. Also survived by one brother and one sister, Edgar Nance and Pauline Driggers. He was preceded in death by a son, David Furman Nance and a daughter Connie Lynn Nance. Also preceded by his parents, Claude Butler Nance and Hettie Viola Nance, three brothers and one sister and one Granddaughter Shelley Nance.
