David Edward "Smiley" Junkin July 31, 1935 July 13, 2011 David Edward "Smiley" Junkin, 75, was born July 31, 1935 to Irvin Edward Junkin and Ruth Peavler Junkin. He passed away on July 13, 2011 in Waxahachie. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 15, 2011 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie. The Celebration of Life will be at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 16, 2011 with Rev. Robert Hemsath officiating. Interment will follow at the Elm Branch Cemetery in Bardwell, Texas. Pallbearers are Brent Strength, Hoyt Alexander, Gerry Kujawa, Bryan Almand, Joey Almand and Mike Greenlee. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Sigler, Ricky Johnston, Larry Feaster, Charlie Bailey, Billy Wayne Skipper, Jesse Gorman, Joe Wright, Cliff Wammack, Larry Autrey and Bobby Crittenden. David was of Baptist faith and attended Farley Street Baptist Church as a child. He attended schools in Bardwell and Waxahachie. In 1960, he went to work for Tyler Refrigeration and worked there for 45 years, retiring in 2006. David was a lover of horses and spent his free time in the business of horse trading. He was a gold card holder as a lifetime member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association #14211. He was a devoted Paw-Paw to his two grandsons. David married Rosemary Wilkins in 1958 and was the father of one son. In 1977 he married Ruth Nell Colquitt Lisman of the home address in Waxahachie. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Junkin, his mother-in law Faye Turner Colquitt, his son Doyle Edward Junkin and wife Patti, Grandsons: Dustin Edward Junkin and Derek Ryan Junkin, one sister; Betty Sue Junkin Almand and husband Gerald, one half-brother: Jimmy Wayne Benton, one brother in law: Mike Colquitt and Cindy; sisters-in law: Janie Keilers and Don, Linda Roppolo and Joe, Nancy Potter and Pat; nephews: Brian Almand and Erin, Joey Almand and Vonda, Billy Keillers and J.B., Donnie Keilers and Shelley, Steven Potter and Brittany, Jason Harper, Scot Harper and Ranee; Nieces: Kim Salazar and Eddie, Karan Fisher and Stuart, Carol Givens and Jeff, Nikki Colquitt, Beth Colquitt, Tina Boyd and David, Holly Barnes; Great Nephews: Ryan Almand, Ty Keilers, Adam Caussey, Aaron Caussey, Preston Potter, Chase Keilers, Erica Keilers, Hannah Andrews, Maddie Andrews, Kristin Keilers, Hunter Keilers, Haven Keilers, Heather Keilers, Amber O'Grady , Emma Boyd, Sara Harper; great great nieces: Brooklynn Wolfe and Chloe O'Grady; special friends: Jill Hocutt, Matt Loyd and Hunter Hocutt, and the mother of his son Rosemary Loftis. David was preceded in death by his step son Russell Dean Lisman, Father Irvin Edward Junkin, Mother Ruth Benton; step mother Mildred Bracken Junkin and Father in law; Billy Colquitt .
