Mr. Grier passed away Friday morning at Lancaster Medical Center. He was born in Palmer to Eugene and Irene (Ramsey) Grier. Darwin attended school in Waxahachie. At the age of 16 he was employed with Wyatt Food Store, L & S Grocery and Piggly Wiggly in Dallas, where he was manager. He moved back to Waxahachie in 1971 where he was employed with FlexSteel until he was disabled in an automobile accident. He was a member of the Ferris Avenue Baptist Church. He and Virginia Chipman were married September 30, 1971 in Durant, OK. As a hobby, Darwin repaired lawn mowers, enjoyed ALL sports, listened to country music and KBEC, loved playing cards and dominoes, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Darwin is survived by: his wife, Virginia Chipman Grier of Waxahachie; two sons and their wives, Dwain and Linda Grier of Sheridan, WY., and Mikey and Cindy Grier of Arlington, TX.; five daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Rick Rose of Duncanville, Teresa and Joe Elson of Longview, Tammy and Jimmy Renfro of Waxahachie, Darla and Butch Amick of Midlothian, and Karen and Gary Waldo of Lancaster; two brothers and their wives, Troy and Dorothy Grier of Red Oak, Harry and Patsy Grier of Waxahachie; seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Howard and one nephew.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Sunday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie. The Celebration of Life will be 2 PM Monday, December 15, 2003 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Carlton Young and Ted Brown officiating. Pallbearers will be Ronny Rose, Joey Borders, C. L. Smith, Bobby Crowell, Tommy Reed and Steve Foster. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charlie Pace, Dave Eder and Kenneth Bryant. Interment will follow at Waxahachie City Cemetery.
