Danny Gardner (Dan) McClinton, 70 of Waxahachie, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 in Waxahachie. Dan was born on July 09, 1944 in Springfield, Missouri to the late Ronald E. & Glenn Eloise Gardner McClinton. Dan joined the U S Army in August of 1962 and served until May 1965, he received the Outstanding Trainee award in 1962 and attended the US Naval School of Music in 1963. After his services to our country, Dan began his academic career and graduated with a BS in Music Education in 1971 from Southwest Texas State University and in 1977 received his Masters in Music Education from Southwest Texas State University. Dan attended Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth from 1980 to 1981. In 2000 he completed his chaplains training at Baylor University Medical Center. Dan was a minister of Music for 41 years, a chaplain at Baylor Medical Center since 2001 and an Associate Minister at First Baptist Church in Waxahachie since 2006. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waxahachie, a member of the Singing Men of Texas, a member of the Association of Professional Chaplains, a member of the Moral Courage Board and a member of Texans Against Gambling. He will be dearly missed by his family and everyone who knew him and loved him. He is survived by his wife Myla McClinton of Waxahachie, Texas; 2 Sons & Daughters in Laws: Scott & Jana McClinton of Frisco and Travis and Rachel McClinton of Arlington, Texas. 1 Brother & Sister in Law: Dennis & Nancy McClinton of Minneapolis, Minnesota; 1 Sister: Paula Bunch of Missouri and 3 Grandchildren: Sydney, Andrew and Erin McClinton; 2 nephews: Joshua and Jason Tipton. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Waxahachie with Dr. David Ritsema officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Chaplain Education, Baylor Medical Center,1405 W. Jefferson St. Waxahachie, TX. 75165 or First Baptist Church New Building Fund, 315 N.
