Dan C Humphreys passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020, after an 18-month battle with an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer, He was 85. Dan was preceded 6 months prior by his wife of 59 years Patricia Marlene Diggs Humphreys. Dan is survived by his daughter Donna Lee Humphreys Baer and her husband Richard Baer of Plano, Texas; his son Danny Lee Humphreys and his wife Karen Johnson Humphreys of Midlothian, Texas, his granddaughters Ashlyn Jade Humphreys of Dallas, Texas and Scarlett Johnson of Glenn Heights and two great grandsons River Knox Johnson and Jack Hollister Exum of Glenn Heights. Dan is survived by his younger brother Jack Humphreys of DeSoto, Texas. Dan is survived by his oldest nephew Todd Humphreys and his children Priscilla Kay and John Thurman Humphreys of South Padre island, Texas; his niece Kim Humphreys Miselnicky and her husband Mark Miselnicky and her sons Will and Justin Miselnicky of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; his youngest nephew Jay Humphreys and his wife Tina Cherrington and his sons Tobin and Jake Humphreys of Harlingen, Texas. Dan is also survived by many lifelong friends of both Adamson and Sunset High Schools in Oak Cliff, Texas such as Bobby Pitcock, Jack Miller and the El Fenix lunch bunch friends.
Dan Humphreys was born November 1934 in Pecan Gap, Texas to Volney Humphreys and Beulah Mae Wyrick Humphreys Dixon. Dan was raised in the Pecan Gap, Honey Grove and Cooper, Texas area during his early years. His father moved the Humphreys family to San Antonio seeking work for a short period. Dan and his family returned to Oak Cliff, Texas. Dan completed hi education in Oak Cliff, Texas where dan graduated from Adamson High School.
Dan’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. Attendees are requested to wear Texas Rangers gear to Celebrate Dan’s love of Baseball and Texas Rangers. A private family visitation will occur at Wayne Bize Funeral Home located at 1826 W. Business Highway 287, Waxahachie, Texas, 75165, The funeral service will be Wednesday. September 23, 2020 at 2:00PM at the Sardis Cemetery located at 6101 Honeysuckle Road Midlothian, Texas 76065. The family will Celebrate Dan’s life together at a place to be announced for family attending.
