Curtis Poynor

Curtis Bryan Poynor, age 81, went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 11:00am at the Brown Street Church of Christ in Waxahachie, located at 2471 Brown Street, Waxahachie, TX 75165.

CB was born in San Angelo, Texas on May 28, 1937. In his younger years, he worked as a cowboy on numerous ranches in New Mexico and San Angelo, TX. He enjoyed rodeoing and bull riding. He was a member of Company A, 11th Battalion, 49th Armored Division, Texas Army National Guard, San Angelo, TX. He also served with the 90th Infantry Division, United States Army Reserves. CB served as a reserve police officer for the FT. Worth Police Department from 1968 to 1978. He graduated from Maypearl High School, where he met and later married Joellyn Ellis. CB earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business at the University of Texas in Austin. His career consisted of oil and gas exploration. He was an avid pilot and test piloted the "STOHL" wing modification for private aircraft. CB enjoyed shooting. He was an active and life member of the NRA. CB and his wife, Joellyn, have been members of the Brown Street Church of Christ for the past 25 years.

CB & Joellyn have 3 children, Russell and his wife, Rhonda, of Milford, Texas, Cynda and her husband, Phil, of Waxahachie, Texas, Neil and his wife, Wendy, of Waxahachie, Tx. He is also survived by three siblings, Lynn Poynor, of FT. Worth, Tx, Mike Poynor of Waxahachie, Tx, and step-sister, Ursula of Austin, Tx. CB and Joellyn have four grandchildren; Megan Nickels, Kelsey Poynor, Amanda Poynor and Hunter Poynor; as well as two great-grandchildren; Atalie and Wyatt Nickels. His grandchildren meant the world to him! CB was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Cloma Poynor.
